Get to Know Gelleesh

Hello world wide web! My name is Gellie Abogado-Ilaga and this is my blog (obviously). I write about beauty, fashion, and about my personal advocacy - body love.

I got into blogging because of my good friend, Celine, whom I also partnered with for an online business. Sadly, the business needed to lay low because of our own personal endeavors but our friendship is still as strong as ever (I love you, Cel!) She is also the one responsible for my love for makeup. Yep, she did teach me the basics and pushed me to start my own beauty blog way back in 2011.

To tell you quite frankly, I used to hate makeup; but now I have come to realize that makeup is more than just prettifying one's outside appearance. I love how I can blend the colors on my eyes, how you can change how you look, how you can adapt to a certain era of your choice because of a few strokes of colors here and there... Basically, makeup for me is an art.

Same goes with my fashion style. I never learned how to mix and match depending on the so-called fashion rules; but if there is one important thing I learned through my years in blogging, it is that my personal style is my personal statement and no one can ever tell me what's right or wrong as long as I feel beautiful and confident inside. My style can be minimalist or a bit over the top at times, but it perfectly tells the story of my life and the lessons I have learned along the way; and that for me is more important than just showing off and bragging how expensive my clothes are... Actually, they're not. Some are even thrifted!

Aside from blogging, I am also working full-time as the Marketing & Communications Officer of LIGHT Microfinance, Inc., and I take on freelance writing gigs from time to time.
