I love trying out new makeup and skin care products. I think
as a beauty blogger that is pretty much given and a “stating the obvious” kind
of thing.
I recently had a breakout which kind of drove me insane. I
doubled up on the foundation and concealer plus I tried out some skin care
products but none seem to work. What have I done to my face? Honestly, trying
out new products all at the same time may have contributed but the main reason
I can come up with is because I wasn’t able to remove makeup so often before
going to bed.
I have been so exhausted these past few weeks that after I got
home from work, I’d be going straight to the sofa bed and relax a bit; but
before I knew it, I already fell asleep and it’s like already 6AM in the
morning. DAMN.
Two weeks ago, I went back to my favourite derm clinic in
Malabon and had my IPL session. Ialso availed of their eyebrow threading that
day and had my facial. As my facialist was removing my makeup and cleaning up
my face, she was quite shocked to see my breakout. She said it wasn’t obvious
because of my makeup. She got fooled, yeah! Hahaha! But at that time, it wasn’t
very funny. I was worried. So after my facial, I went on a makeup fast. No
makeup for one whole week. Did I survive?
I DID IT!
The only product I used on my face |
It was a bit odd at first but I had to do it. I went to work
with only my lip balm and lipstick on. No foundation, no concealer, hey even my
brows weren’t filled in! That’s how I religiously followed my makeup fasting.
As for the skin care products I used, I stopped them all (yes, even the
moisturizers) and just used the Snoe It’s Oat-K, It’s Alright Foaming CleansingOil for sensitive skin. Since it says that it’s okay for those with sensitive
skin, I thought it’ll work on me. No buts, just an “and.” And, yes, it worked
on me.

After a week, I noticed how my breakouts walked away from my
face and how I feel, still, beautiful even without my makeup on. Honestly, I
can never go out without, at least, doing my eyebrows on and using even a
tinted moisturizer and powder afterwards. But now, it’s different. Not only did
the makeup fasting do my skin good; it also boosted my confidence that I can
be beautiful with or without makeup. Plus it has also taught me a valuable lesson
of avoiding procrastination. Hahaha!
So give your face a week-long rest every once in awhile. It will help you recover from a nasty breakout and it will actually give you more confidence - provided, of course, you graduate from the week-long makeup fast.
Has anyone here tried makeup fasting? Share your stories
below. I’d love to read them!
Cool, yah I bet we really need some makeup fasting. Its good for me that I don't really need to put my makeup on everyday since I got a homebase job.
ReplyDeleteThat make up remover sounds soo natural, how much does it costs?
Thank you!
Loving it!♥
Hello Jo-an, forgot exact price but around 400 bucks, I think. :)
DeleteWow that looks awesome! I should try the Oat-K too, I've been hearing so much about it. I think that my face is starting to complain about all the products too and I'm breaking out. I've been using Celeteque's acne solutions and it's been good so far. But I think I need to try the fast too.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone needs a makeup fast esp if we've been using makeup far too long. Good luck on your makeup fast! :D
DeleteI did that not only for 1 week but for 9 months. I did not wear any makeup during my entire pregnancy with Ethan and it's actually doable. It's just that if you're used to wearing makeup like me, it's quite hard. Right after I gave birth, I kissed my makeup like we never met for a million years. Haha! I did this all for my baby :)
ReplyDeleteFor 9 months! Nakakaloka! Haha! So this could be a prep for a future pregnancy perhaps? Hehe. xD
DeleteWill try it too. I have a lot of breakouts so I think I need this.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Zarah! :)
DeleteWow, It worked amazingly on you!!! I'll definitely try that soon.

Deletekudos to you gellie! sana makaya ko rin walang makeup!! i'm still not confident with my skin kaya foundation or at least facial cream is a must before i go out. i think i need to invest in good skin care products na :P
ReplyDeleteAko din. I'm slowly beginning to do so :)
DeleteOoh I do that too whenever I break out! Sa start feel ko mukhang haggard ako, pero ok naman since nagcclear up yung skin. Motto: Anything for the skin! :D
ReplyDeleteHigh five to that, Helen! :D
