Nail Of The Week: Not One Of the Boys
“Cos I don’t want to be one of the boys, one of your guys. Just give me a chance to prove to you that...”
I used to be one of the boys. Believe me. Before I started getting into beauty and fashion blogging, I get along better with guys. Back in highschool, especially during my senior year, I was always with my guy friends and we often go out to one of our friend’s (or mine) place and play video games, play cards, drink and smoke... Yeah, all those normal rebellious things you do back in high school. My transition, to being girly, began in college; but it was not a full transformation yet because, although I’m already putting makeup on, I was superbly bad at it (imagine a single shade of electric blue eye shadow all over my lids).
“So over the summer something changed. I started reading Seventeen and shaving my legs.”
After college, my highschool buddy, Celine, sent me over some makeup from the US and I got hooked to putting makeup on; until I, eventually, taught myself how to do proper makeup through video tutorials and by asking Celine. If you will dig deep in my blog, you will notice how a lot of my older posts (may it be about beauty or fashion) are amazingly crappy; and I am not ashamed of it. This blog is the very epitome of someone who has undergone a complete metamorphosis from that ugly duckling boyish girl to a better looking and improved version of me physically, mentally and spiritually.
This nail of the week post shows off a white base color and the Nina shade from Girlstuff as its tip. Normally, you will see the white as a tip; but as a tribute to my transformation, let’s give this usual tip an overhaul through reversing the colors since I, personally, also underwent a transformation from being that boyish highschool girl to the beauty and fashion blogger that I am now.
The transformation didn’t totally erase the boyish part of me. I still have tons of guy friends at work, I am still a Resident Evil fan girl, I still worship George A. Romero and I can still kick some ass. Hahaha!
