Once Upon A Time, I Wanted To Be A Princess

Most girls have dreamed of becoming a princess for, at least, once in their lives. I am not an exception. When I was younger, I would always imagine myself walking down the stairs, on a red carpet, at a prince's ball just like our favorite, Cinderella. Everyone will look at me and think that I am the prettiest girl in the room. The boys will  swoon and the girls will wish they were in my shoes... Or in my dress!

During prom night, I believe every girl envisions herself as a princess for that night. After all, it's not every night that you get to wear a beautiful dress. Maybe my prom night was not how I wanted it to be. I walked down the red carpet but I still did not feel like I was the prettiest and I believed I wasn't. I guess I did not have the confidence to be beautiful before. I know I was smart because I had good grades, I know I was talented because I am always commended for the things that I can do; but no one ever told me I was beautiful. Back in highschool, no one ever asked me out on a date. No one gave me a stuffed animal or a bouquet of red roses on valentine's day. No one was ever rumored to have liked me. No one. And that's how I defined beauty - only when a boy likes you; and during that time, I wasn't, superficially, girlfriend material.

Back in highschool, I thought beauty was dependent on how many boys will find you attractive or will ask you out; but now, I have learned that there is so much more to beauty than just that. I believe that real beauty comes with confidence. It is knowing and believing your beautiful because it is not just about superficiality. I am a smart and independent woman and I find that beautiful; and no amount of makeup, diet pills, or suitors can make me think otherwise.

And so while I continue on browsing at PickeDresses, I spotted their long prom dresses and thought about what I can wear to match my new found beauty and confidence. If only I believed myself way back, I could have really been the most beautiful girl that night.

The Empire Sweetheart Floor-length Chiffon Sequins Prom Dress caught my attention. The sequined details on its top, bring out the edge and beauty in this simple dress. No need for a neck piece on this one and the silver bangle which the model is wearing could be a good touch. Now, where to find that?

When I saw the A-line Straps Floor-length Chiffon Beading Prom Dress, I thought: "to hell with being a princess, I want to be a goddess!" This dress has that Greek goddess feel in it or maybe it can even be work by the Khaleesi (only Game of Thrones people will understand it). Better be one than a princess, I say!

And this A-line Sweetheart Floor-length Chiffon Beading Prom Dress has a young and vibrant look on it that will be perfect for when I was 16 years old (age when I attended my prom night). The flow of its skirt will make one really feel like a princess as she walks down the red carpet while flashing a beautiful smile. Agree?

These dresses may be beautiful and all that but remember, true beauty comes from within. You will only be beautiful if you believe in yourself that you are. You don't have to be a princess to be beautiful, rather work on being smart, independent and confident because after highschool and college, that's what will matter more.
