Sephora Face Konjac Cleansing Sponge

Skin care has been my main focus these past few days when “beauty” comes in mind. I used to bombard you all with my latest makeup finds that I kind of forgot how important skin care is above all those. So when I went to Sephora to try purchasing something from them, I immediately clicked the Skin Care section to check out which I can try out for you all. So what caught my attention is this Sephora Face Konjac Cleansing Sponge that has a “Hot in Korea” label on it.

Before wetting it with warm water, it was really hard. At first I thought, "Ill scrub my face with this?!"
This sponge gently exfoliates away dead skin cells while reducing blemish-causing bacteria. This helps to correct and prevent excessive breakouts. It helps to restore clear skin and prevent future outbreaks for smoother, clearer, brighter-looking skin.”

I got curious so I searched in Google what the Konjac Cleansing fad is all about. To be honest, I haven’t much about it so I was extra curious. According to Sephora Philippines, its benefits are:
  • Features a comfortably soft sponge to exfoliate
  • Contains natural antibacterial properties
  • Suitable for blemish-prone skin types
  • Product lasts for two to three months
How to Use it?
  1. Wet the sponge with warm water before use
  2.  Apply cleanser to the sponge
  3. In circular motions, massage all over the face and focus on area with dirt or makeup
  4.  Rinse the sponge thoroughly after each use and hang by the attached cotton thread in a well-ventilated area to dry
The Good Bits:

I was actually quite hesitant at first but I was surprised at how this product works well. Before using it, I read first a couple of blog posts about how they used it and how they take care of it and I chose to not use a cleanser with it as it might shorten the life span of the sponge. I was surprised that even without a cleanser, it has removed my makeup well. Although, of course, you might want to use a real makeup remover for your stubborn eye makeup, but if you’re like me who only do light makeup everyday, this will be okay to use. It exfoliates but it wasn’t harsh to my skin. When I first opened the package it was so hard but as soon as I wet it with warm water, it became so soft and definitely really gentle on the skin. I have been using it for a few days now and even though at first I thought I wouldn’t like it that much, I actually do like it and I’m planning on buying the other Konjac sponge variants from Sephora as well but with a different brand (The Konjac Sponge Company). They actually have variants specific for your skin’s needs so that will be more interesting (but more expensive too, of course).

The Bad Bits:

I can’t complain actually. I thought I would rant about how ridiculous this product is but, au contraire, I loved it. I’ve read in some blog posts about some of its inflated claims but I wasn’t expecting much of those anyway and Sephora didn’t mention those in this product so not a problem. Oh and since this needs to be air-dried and it doesn’t come in a portable container, it’s just a disappointment that I can’t bring it with me when I travel.

Over-All:

I would definitely repurchase and try other brands and variants of the Konjac sponge. Is it a necessity? Hmm… Maybe not so it’s always up to you to decide. I’m giving this a rating of 9/10. If you want to try something new that will work, you might want to give this a shot.

I purchased this in Sephora Philippines through Shopback Philippines.

What is Shopback you ask?

Shopback's landing page :)
Shopback is a cashback site that helps you get the best deals and discounts on 300+ stores, plus Cashback! Cashback is really just "getting cash back" - When you spend online through ShopBack, we give you a portion of your purchase back as Cashback. This means extra, unlimited savings whenever you shop online!

There's my account page
So you can choose between Paypal or Bank Transfer and I chose Bank Transfer, of course. :)
And that’s basically it. Sign up for an account, fill in the necessary details and choose whether you’d like to be paid via Paypal or straight to your bank account. After that, to be able to shop with the cashback, all you’ve got to do is to click on one of their merchants through their website and get your purchase done in that exact window that will pop out so that they can record your purchase and give you your cashback.  Easy, right?

That's my cashback from my Sephora purchase :)
Actually, I managed to get 5% cashback when I shopped at Sephora Philippines through ShopBack! What I did was click on Sephora’s logo on their landing page, browse through the window that popped out, buy the stuff I want and voila! I have this PHP20.92 cashback. IMO, it’s better than getting a discount because you’ll get real cash here. Well, if you’re not a beauty junkie like me, fret not. They have 300+ merchants like Zalora, Lazada, Agoda, and many other popular shops so the chances of getting a cashback through your online purchases are really high!

So once you’ve tried Shopback, share your experience with me, k?
