REVIEW: Ella Naturals Brighten Up! Calamansi Soap

For a makeup junkie like me, skincare matters a lot.

I’ve always defined makeup as an art. And when doing art, it’s often better to start with a clean canvas. That’s one of the reasons why I started Ella Naturals with some friends. So when we come up with new products to release in the market, we often ask ourselves, “What do we personally need and want right now?” We always make sure that whatever it is that we would be offering in the public, would be something we would also personally love and use.

I cut my soap in half to fully maximize how long it can last

The Ella Naturals Brighten Up! Calamansi Soap helps get rid of body odor, brightens skin tone, and dries up pimples by targeting its root cause for a smoother and clearer skin.

Ingredients: Glycerin, Pure Calamansi Extract and pulp, and Virgin Coconut Oil

The Good Bits:

It really does help with keeping my skin clean and clear of pimples. I use this when I would have pimples or a breakout. Breakouts on my part usually happens after a travel for vacation or work. You know how all those dirt and shit goes into your skin after a whole day of walking. This also helps A LOT if you have oily skin. And also, it can help in brightening up your skin. On my part though, it helps with the uneven skintone due to my long exposure to the sun (I use sunscreen, but field work can be pretty shitty so…).

The Bad Bits:

Immediately after using the Ella Naturals Brighten Up! Calamansi Soap, I would need to use a moisturizer since, even though it will leave you feeling squeaky clean, it can also be quite drying. Because I already have dry skin, I would only use this every evening after I’ve removed my makeup. After that, I would use Avocado Oil to help moisturize my skin.

Over-All:

I would recommend this to people who have acne problems and have oily skin. This can really help big time. Not for those who have dry skin like me. Although should you have a need for a calamansi soap, like me again, moisturize generously.

Again, no rating for this one since I’m one of the owners of Ella Naturals. But I hope my honest review has helped!

  1. Ohhhh I NEED this for when I travel! My skin completely freaks out whenever we're on a plane, which sucks because I don't want to be breaking out on vacation! Also, you're the cutest!
Thanks for sharing! Also... You're AWESOME for starting your own company! Go you!

  3. I like the idea of using a bar soap on your face in terms of a skin care product. I've seen a few other brands go this route and it's a great way to remain sustainable! I appreciate your honest review of your own product. I would definitely try this! Especially since I still get the occasional acne. ;)

  4. This would be good for me because I do have oily skin, and recently my skin has been more spot proven due to some strong medication I have been on. I would definitely give this a go, even just to try it out.

Have a good weekend dude :)

  9. That's also one of my problems with beauty soaps, then can be quite drying. And wow, it's awesome that you started your own skincare line!

  11. Wow! Congratulations on this business venture! I've always wanted to have my own skincare brand as well. But oh well, priorities. Anyway, this sounds interesting but thank you for your honest review that it can be quite drying. I am looking for a brightening soap that can help fade my acne scars (I have new and super red ones). I am contemplating whether I should get this or not because I have very sensitive skin and anything that has vitamin C more often than not irritates my skin. Any suggestion?
