Happy Blog Anniversary, Gelleesh!

Yep, you read that right. My blog Gelleesh.com has been online for 7 years now! It has not been an easy journey, but the important thing is that we are still here.

When I started my blog in 2011, my goal was just to promote an online business. Until eventually, I fell in love with blogging that it became the main thing. But when I moved to Pampanga, things started to go on a different direction. From daily blogging, I went to weekly and now… Just when I feel like it. It’s not easy keeping and often updating a blog especially if you have a very demanding full-time job. Another struggle is when you do writing for a living. After a long day at work, you just wouldn’t want to be writing again. And blogging is writing so… Go figure.

But you see, writing is one of my passions in life. And getting paid to write and tell a story is such an ecstatic feeling. So, no, I’m never giving up writing, I’m never giving up this blog, and I’m never giving up telling and sharing my story to all of you.

I wasn’t good with makeup at all when I started blogging. And I’ve gotten comments from random people telling me how I should just blog about losing weight instead of makeup so I’d get more readers or that my skin is dirty and I’m ugly so why should I do beauty blogging? And weird enough, despite of all those negative comments, I never gave up. I never let them get to me. Because if I did, I wouldn’t be here writing about how I survived seven years of blogging. Seven years, damn!

There was a time in my blogging life when all I do is post one makeup review after another. But I craved variety. I craved telling my story. Because I know that there is so much more to me than just makeup. And that is how I dabbled into doing plussize fashion blogging and advocating about body love.

I may not have a million followers, but I know that I’m creating an impact somehow. I’ve received a few messages from readers telling me how I’ve inspired them to be confident, convinced them to try out products I’ve blogged, and how they just enjoyed reading my posts. And those may just be enough to show that we don’t need to be a social media superstar to make a difference. Take it one step at a time, one person at a time, and one post at a time.

Never give up on your passion. There will be roadblocks, challenges, boulders, or whatever you want to call it. But they are only there to make you stronger, to keep you going, and to keep you pushing for greater things.

So thank you for putting up with my lack of posting consistency. Thank you for reading and trusting my write-ups. Thank you for all the likes and loves on my social media pages. And thank you for letting me become a part of your online life.

See you around!
