My New Simplified Skincare Routine

Now that I’m older, I realized that skincare doesn’t need to be complicated.

For the past few years, I have gotten compliments about how I look younger than my actual age. I discovered that the main ingredient to having a healthy and glowing skin can be as simple as living a healthier and more active lifestyle. But, of course, I still need a few products to help me with keeping my skin at its healthiest state. So, let me share with you how I go about my daily skincare routine with very few and non-expensive products.

My Morning Skincare Routine

I usually wake up at around 6:00 in the morning to prepare for my 8:00 AM workout. After washing my face with just plain water, I use the Belo Sunexpert Dewy Essence Sunscreen. However, during those days when I have to go out and I’m not working out, I use the Belo Sunexpert Tinted Sunscreen. I’ve seen a lot of great reviews about this product online, so I gave it a try, and now I’m in love.

These products both have SPF 50 and PA++++ for protection against harmful UV rays. And because I have this tendency to have dry skin, the Dewy Essence Sunscreen is infused with Pentavitin that gives up to 72 hours of continuous hydration. It’s also water-resistant, definitely perfect for working out, doesn’t have any white cast, paraben-free, non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic, and dermatologist tested. As for the Tinted Sunscreen, what I love most about it is that it has Tone Adapt Technology, which makes it suitable for all skin tones. It provides light coverage, enough for an errand day, and it doesn’t feel sticky nor heavy on the skin.

So, after applying my favorite sunscreen products, I just put on a lip balm and I’m ready to hit the gym. But if it’s a non-gym day, I put my usual makeup on top of the tinted sunscreen and I’m good to go. No need for additional foundation or concealer even!

My Evening Skincare Ritual

So, for my evening skincare routine, I usually start off with using the
Bioten Micellar Cleansing Gel when I wear makeup for the day. But when I don’t, since I just go to the gym and work from home, I usually just wash my face with plain water. What I love about this product is that it’s enriched with 100% natural charcoal that helps in cleansing my skin from the dirt and impurities from going outside and wearing makeup for the whole day. Plus, it has Hydro Nutrient 24, which prevents skin dryness providing instant  but also long lasting moisture on the skin. It also has prebiotics that nourish and help the growth and maintenance of existing beneficial bacteria, thus keeping my skin as healthy as me.

After washing my face, I use the Celeteque Advanced Anti-Aging Toner. However, just like with the cleansing gel, I only use this when I wear makeup for the day. But if not, I skip the cleansing gel and the toner. A toner helps remove any last trace amount of dirt and impurities that could have been left stuck on the skin even after washing the face. And since it’s not really a necessity for an everyday skincare routine, I save a lot of money by using it only when needed.

After all that, I use
The Face Shop Jeju Aloe Fresh Soothing Gel. If you have been reading my blog and following me on my socials for quite some time now, you know that it has been one of my beauty product staples, which I have been using for years now. This product is an all around product for me. I use it, not just on my face, but also after shaving my underarms and legs, on my hair too, and even after a beach trip to help soothe my sunburn. And then, I use a lip balm again before I go to bed to keep my lips from drying out as I sleep.

This new simplified skincare routine that I have does not only help keep my skin looking fresh and youthful, but it has also saved me a lot of money. Sometimes, it does look so cool when I see people putting on a lot of products on their face and it kind of made me ask, Should I too? But as I check on what my skin really needs, apparently, it doesn’t really need much. I haven’t had a breakout in years.

Again, things do not have to be complicated. Before you imitate other people’s skincare routines, check first what your skin really needs and what products will best work for your skin type, your lifestyle, and of course, your budget.
