My 5 Beauty Product Staples

As someone who used to mainly blog about beauty products, you still can’t remove the kikay in me no matter how much more focused I am with my training and workout. So, I’d like to share with you all my top five current beauty product staples, which I have been religiously buying for years now.

The Face Shop Jeju Aloe Fresh Soothing Gel

You’ve always known me as someone who’s on the lookout for affordable, but reliable, products. One of my holy grail finds is this The Face Shop Jeju Aloe Fresh Soothing Gel, which I use mainly as a face moisturizer. Sometimes, I also use it as a body lotion replacement (when I run out of body lotion), an after-shave soothing gel when I shave my underarm and leg hair, and as a soothing gel whenever I get back from a beach trip or whenever I’m sunburned from all the work travels that I do.

But just like any other skincare products, it has its cons and its effectiveness depends on how your skin adapts to it. Since it has added fragrance, there is a possibility that it may cause a reaction for people with sensitive skin; and because it has alcohol, it can also be drying (but not for me apparently, which is a good thing, yes?).

A tub of this product can last to me for up to 5-6 months. And for its price, it’s worth it.

Maybelline Hyper Curl Waterproof Mascara

Maybelline has always been my go-to drugstore brand when it comes to mascara. And since the Maybelline Hyper Curl Waterproof Mascara can be found almost everywhere, it’s so easy to buy it whenever I need a new mascara. It was an accidental staple, which I eventually loved and would always look for now. It’s smudge-free, waterproof, easy to apply, and gives my lashes a natural curled look. Oh and did I tell you that it’s also very inexpensive. It’s only Php 249.00 and you can find it almost anywhere, even in grocery stores.

MAC Matte Lipstick in Russian Red

I finally found the perfect red lipstick for me, and yes, it’s the MAC Matte Lipstick in Russian Red. I know that a lot of people prefer the Ruby Woo, but this was also an accidental purchase turned staple. Years ago, I was looking forward to trying out the Ruby Woo, but alas, no stock. So, they asked me if I wanted to try Russian Red, and so I did. Years later, I’m still purchasing it every year.

Snoe Don’t Worry Bee Happy Makeup Setting Spray

I have also been using this makeup setting spray for years now! Snoe Beauty is one of my favorite local brands, and their Snoe Don’t Worry Bee Happy Makeup Setting Spray is the makeup setting spray I have been religiously using for years now ever since they first introduced it in public. If you have seen my workout videos or have worked out with me, you know that my makeup stays still on my face no matter how intense the workout or training is. My secret? This makeup setting spray. And even though there is no Snoe store near my area, I’m glad they’re also available on Shopee, so I can always restock on this product anytime I need to.

Nichido Final Powder in Ivory Glow

Another holy grail alert here! The Nichido Final Powder in Ivory Glow is something I have been using since 2011! During that time, it has been compared to the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder, so I got curious, tried it out, and damn… The rumors are true. This product really does perform. I use it as a setting powder for my makeup and imagine… I’ve tried a loose powder from MAC and from Benefit, and I eventually switched back to this. Why, you ask? It performs as good as its WAY MORE EXPENSIVE counterparts and for Php 150.00, who wouldn’t make the switch?

Behind this strong weightlifting girl is still the same old kikay you all used to know and love. Would you want me try out and review new beauty product finds again?
