When It's the Sister's Turn

Prom posts are all over my Facebook, Instagram, and other such social networking sites one can think of. And so, although, it isn't prom for my youngest sister yet I gave her some "love life" advice since she will have her prom in a year and might want to dance and fall in love with a boy from school. Oh you know what love is like in high school. Young love is so full of energy, enthusiasm, and drama; so with the things I have learned in my 25 years of existence in this world, I hope she can learn a thing or two from me.

I told my sister that it's okay and perfectly normal to have a boyfriend at her age but never let that person ruin her real priorities - be an amazing woman in the future. As cliché as it may sound, I believe that it's always "books before boys." I want her to fully maximize the training years of her life so that she will have an awesome life once she's already of legal age to go and explore the world on her own. As an ate (older sister), I feel like it is my responsibility to constantly remind my sisters that.

I have made mistakes in the past that, ultimately, led me to living a more difficult life and I have no one to blame but myself. However, I have moved on, learned from it and so over the blaming part. As much as possible, I would not want my sisters to go through the same things I have gone through so I do hope they will listen with what ate says.
