FOTD: Soft Glam Makeup Look

I guess it’s not a secret that I love putting makeup on. I love experimenting on new looks, trying out new products, and seeing well-blended eye makeups a lot! Some people at work would be surprised at the amount of products I put on my face compared to theirs. I would hear remarks such as, “you don’t need that much products,” or some curious questions such as, “why do you need to use that?

I remember reading an article before about how women shouldn’t wear too much makeup because men like women who keep it “simple.” Oh and that article came from a popular women’s magazine whose goal is to empower the modern women. Wow.

I created this look because it makes me feel more empowered and excited to work when I know that I’m all glammed up for the day. I hope you all like it and that you just do your makeup for you. To hell if they think it’s too little or too much, right?

PRODUCTS I USED:

FACE: NYX Pore Filler | L’Oreal True Match Foundation in N7 (Nude Ambre) | Nichido Final Powder in Ivory Glow | MAC Mineralize Concealer in NW35 | Max Factor Pan Stik in Nouveau Beige | Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Candy Coral | Maybelline V-Face Blush Contour in Red | Snoe Bee Happy Makeup Setting Spray

EYES: Happy Skin x Beauty Bar Bullseye Perfect Brow Trio | Snoe Linear Equation Total Line Solution Wrinkle Diffuser BB Mousse Base | Ever Bilena Advance Eyeshadow 5 Shades in Amazing Pink | NYX Escape with Rico 3 Color Shadow Palette in Love in Rio | Maybelline Hyper Sharp Wing | Dolly Wink Long Mascara

LIPS: Matte in Detail in Krysle

HOW I DID IT:

After moisturizing, I applied the NYX Pore Filler all over my face and blended it using my fingers. Then, I used the Snoe Linear Equation Total Line Solution Wrinkle Diffuser BB Mousse Base for as an eyeshadow base and for my undereye area. For the coverage, I used the L’Oreal True Match Foundation in N7 (Nude Ambre) all over my face and blended it using a sponge, then the MAC Mineralize Concealer in NW35 on my undereye area then after blending, I topped it with the Max Factor Pan Stik in Nouveau Beige which also serves as a concealer/highlighter since it’s lighter than my shade. After all that, I set my coverage with the Nichido Final Powder in Ivory Glow.

For the eyes, I used the Happy Skin x Beauty Bar Bullseye Perfect Brow Trio for a fuller pair of brows. Then for the color of the eyes, I used the darker pink shade from my Ever Bilena Advance Eyeshadow 5 Shades in Amazing Pink all over my lids and a little of the darker purple shade on my outer crease area. Then, I used the darker brown shade from my NYX Escape with Rico 3 Color Shadow Palette in Love in Rio for the crease and undereye, then the white shade from the Ever Bilena Palette again on the middle of the lids. For the wing, I used the Maybelline Hyper Sharp Wing. Then I curled my lashes and used the Dolly Wink Long Mascara on them.

For the contouring, I used the Maybelline V-Face Blush Contour in Red for under my cheekbones and on the side of my nose bridge, blended it with an angled blush brush from Marionnaud, then I used the white shade again from the Ever Bilena palette for highlighting the nose bridge.

For the blush, I used my finger to apply and blend the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Candy Coral since it’s a cream type of blush and then I just two layers of the Matte in Detail in Krysle on my lips. Nude lips is the way to go.

I love the balance this makeup look shows. The glammed up eyes then the subtle lip color makes it easier to focus on one element at a time. How about you, would you like to try out this look? What’s your glammed up makeup look for work?

  5. Women should wear as much/ as little as they want. Men's opinions (or other people's opinions) shouldn't matter or let alone affect that. You look gorgeous btw! I love the lip color! :)

  6. You look great. I have maybe 2 ways I do my make up and I generally stick to that. I love when others can really change up their look with make up. Such a skill and art! I am a jock though, so I used to work out 2-3x a day and keep my face really minimal with a 5 minute look unless I'm going out on weekends. When my shoulder injury is healed, I'll be doing 2-3 trips to the gym 5 days a week again, so male up will be less again. I love it more on others than myself. To each their own. :)

  17. You look sensational, Gellie!

I completely agree with your post. I am fed up of seeing terribly written articles stating men prefer women without makeup or men prefer it when we keep our makeup simple. I'm sorry, didn't realise I was born into this world to please you?!

I looooove experimenting with colour, I use a lot of brights and I do get people making fun out of me but honestly, I don't give a fuck. I like it, sooooo... Haha.

  19. Girl, I couldn't agree more! I'm such a huge proponent for wearing what makes you feel and look good and confident in the body you're in, be it makeup or clothing. When we feel good, we're the best version of ourselves! That said, you look absolutely beautiful, I love the makeup look and your hair color, too! Thanks so much for the inspiration, beautiful, and I hope you're having the best start to both your new week and month!

  24. I do not wear makeup to please men so that magazine can shove it up their arse. I wear makeup because I love it and it makes me feel good and it's for me and not anyone else. What a thing to say at this age and time. Ugh!

  30. Your makeup is lovely - especially that beautiful eyeshadow, you wear it well! :)

I'm not a big makeup person - I like to keep things as simple as possible. But with makeup, like fashion, we should wear what makes us happy - not to please others. We are the ones wearing it in the end after all!

    Hope you're having a fantastic week :)

You should create a video tutorial!!! :) I think it's easier to follow with a video hehe
