However, I became curious and tried threading but only when I was already working. Since I also have a few noticeable hair on my upper lips and I used to pluck 'em back in college, why not give it a try on the upper lip. It left my upper lip smooth and I was really satisfied. However, it was quite painful. As I was having my upper lip threaded , tears fell down my cheeks. FOR REAL! But, I love the result and I said, "No Pain, No Gain!"
Okay, so what is Threading?
It is considered as one of the oldest means of removing hair. To perform threading, a cotton thread is pulled along unwanted hair in a twisting motion. It lifts the hair right out of the follicle. Before the threading begins, powder is patted on the skin so that it's easier to take out the hair; because it would be harder to pull out if the hair is moist.
I really haven't tried out doing it by myself, though I've seen some instructions online about it. I just go to my trusted spa for my upper lip threading and on my brows whenever I'm too lazy to go pluck those little devils. Threading is actually my most trusted and preferred method of removing hair. I remember when I was suppose to have my upper lip waxed, but the attendant told me she prefers threading for a cleaner finish.
The Good Bits:
First of all, it won't take you more than 15 minutes. Perfect for girls on the go! It actually is more healthier for the skin since no chemicals will be applied plus, since the hairs are really pulled from the follicles, the result can last up to 4 weeks! Awesome, right? Plus it's not really expensive. It's actually just cost as much as waxing. And some people also say that frequent threading can permanently stop the hair from growing since it might damage the hair follicle. This is the only time that being damaged actually sounds positive!
The Bad Bits:
Threading is not for all parts of your skin. It doesn't work well in bikini lines. It is preferred to work on flat surfaces. For people with acne, threading can cause it to break out more and there would also be times when it will cause your skin to swell and be red.
Over-All:
Again, threading is still my preferred method of removing hair on my upper lips and brows. However it is recommended that you have 'em done by your trusted spa because only an expert can do this the right way. Just like in other treatments, it is always best to have it done by someone who REALLY knows what their doing.
My trusted threading spots:
- Templora Dermatologica
- David's Salon (SM Valenzuela Branch)
- Let's Face It (SM Valenzuela Branch)
- Brow Haus
- Laybare

I'll get my brows threaded soon! I hope my pain tolerance that day is on its highest. Haha
ReplyDeleteI've only had my brows threaded once. I liked it, but I love plucking my own brows too.. hahaha.. :)) I think I'll have my face threaded some day though, when I convince myself that I can tolerate that much pain.. >.<
ReplyDeleteI am a certified threading virgin! But I will hop on to threading soon. Wish me luck, haha :)
ReplyDeleteI used to pluck and shape my brows all by myself. But when Browhaus came to the metro, I immediately jumped on the chance. XD
ReplyDeleteMonthly, I'd visit them, or if my self-maintenance could still handle the reshaping, I'd visit Browhaus later on.
