The Pampanga Bloggers at El Pedro Cubanos

My first two years in Pampanga were pretty quiet and boring. Work, home, work, home… And I was even single at that time so shouldn’t I be always out having a good time? My social life was a blank canvas here and I only get to go out for dinner with officemates. Fun? Well at times, but clingy much? So when I finally met the blogging community in Pampanga, I got so excited that I’m willing to free my schedule and not go back to Manila on a weekend just to meet up with them.

For my first meeting with them, we went to El Pedro Cubanos in Nepo Quad in Angeles City. The owner’s name is Pedro and he serves fantastic Cuban dishes. Pretty straightforward restaurant name, right? And let me be straightforward with you too… This would be my first time to try out Cuban dishes.

El Pedro Cubanos is an al fresco dining space so perfect for this time of the year… Feel the cold air brush through your face while eating authentic Cuban dishes. Before, I’ve always confused Mexican dishes to Cuban dishes so I was, initially, thinking that would their dishes be jalapeno-filled too or would there be spicy dishes I wouldn’t be able to try? Well, lucky for me Cuban food isn’t about spiciness. The food Chef Pedro had us try became an instant favorite. I actually showed the photos to my fiancĂ© and he was disappointed… Disappointed that the place is in Pampanga and not in Manila; but I’ll surely drag him here once he steps back to Pampanga again.

That brown sauce is Chef Pedro's secret awesome sauce! See, it's everywhere!
Chef Pedro also has this special secret sauce which goes with EVERYTHING. Believe me when I say everything because I really did try it with every dish that he served.

Arroz con Lechon

If you’re in Pampanga and you want to try an authentic foreign cuisine, you should head to El Pedro Cubanos. And yep, it’s authentic because Chef Pedro cooks the dishes himself! Who better to cook Cuban dishes than a Cuban, right? And if he’s not too busy, he might even approach your table to tell you more about the food you’re eating and give you more recommendations to try. Plus, he’s got a lot of stories to tell so you’ll definitely feel at home while dining at his humble restaurant.
