OOTD: A Throwback and Something to be Thankful For

Gelleesh started out as a beauty blogging project in 2011 after slowly learning how to put makeup on as influenced by one of my good friends, Celine. Ever since, the blog has continuously grown and evolved into eventually also talking about fashion, food, and other things that tickles my fancy. I guess, in a way, this has become more of a personal blog talking about the things I love and my journey to becoming a better version of myself everyday.

Through this blog, I have improved my writing skills. I realized that continuously practicing the craft I’d want to improve on will really make a difference. Of course I’d still have some typos here and there, but the most important thing is I never gave up, I never let the negativity stop me, and that I’m always willing to learn more.

Every year whenever I’d talk about my blog, I would also talk about the many friends I’ve made through it. Aside from my fellow Filipino bloggers, I was also able to interact and be friends with bloggers from all over the world – I met Trang of A Dried Rose, a fellow beauty blogger, during my visit to Vietnam last year; Jalisa of The Style Contour, an awesome fashion blogger who shares awesome styling tips and whose preggy outfits can be such an inspiration to all soon-to-be mommas out there to not let pregnancy stop you from being a fashionista; Larissa of Conscious Lifestyle of Mine, whom I was supposed to meet up with during her visit to the Philippines, but unfortunately I had an accident during my visit to Jumpyard so I wasn’t able to leave the house for like a month so… I’m hoping to meet her next time instead (hopefully she comes back or I’d be in Germany, yey!); Emily of Coat and Coffee whose blog posts you’d really love to read from beginning to end. I love her unique travel tips and the photos she takes are just awesome. She’s my inspiration when it comes to taking minimalist photos; and a lot more other bloggers just from different cultures, religions, and countries. The internet is such an awesome place.

Maybe I haven’t been writing here as much as I used to when I was just starting, but I don’t think I will ever give up blogging. I make it a point to blog at least once a week (unless I’m super busy at work and I can’t come up with a single word to say, and trust me, it happens) to share what I’ve been doing, what I’ve been loving lately, the things that interests me, and some things I was asked to try and blog about.

Dress: Forever 21 | Shoes: Payless | Bag: Gelleeshop | Belt: Divisoria
For this outfit post, I wore a 90s inspired outfit since I feel like looking back, not just on how my blog has been this past year, but also about the things that pushed me to blog and write about the things I do now.

My experiences in the past, may they be good or bad, have helped me become the better person I am today. I’m not perfect, and no one will ever be, but I believe I’ve grown and become better. Aside from writing about beauty and fashion, I also talk about my thoughts about body love, my experiences and opinion about the rape culture, and many other things that I believe would help other people too.

So before I end this post, I would like to say thank you to all the people who helped and encouraged me to never stop writing and blogging. I could never have gotten this old in the blogging community without you all – my blogger friends, readers, and brands who trusted me. Cheers to another year for Gelleesh and may we all grow and learn together!

P.S. I forgot to say, June is my blog's anniversary. I've been blogging as Gelleesh for 6 years now! Yey! :D

  1. Congratulations and happy happy 6th birthday to Gelleesh! ^_^ You're one of the most inspirational bloggers I know. It's really getting harder and harder to find time to blog nowadays, especially since we have more responsibilities na, but I admire your dedication. Even your social media posts are a delight to read!

Anyway, you're looking more blooming, Gellie! Here's to more blog posts and blessings! ;)

  2. Dang, six years is a long time! Wow! Some congrats are definitely in order for that. That means you've made it through all the times where you've wanted to quite but kept going haha (I finally had my first experience with this feeling just a few weeks ago).

I love that your blog covers all sorts topics, and I enjoy reading it. Especially your more in depth posts on rape culture and personal experiences where you live. It's given me an insight in to the country, that I didn't have before.

Thank you so much for the mention as well, and I had no idea that my blog was an inspiration to you!! I am so honored. It's been nice connecting with you over the last year, as you're one of the few people who leave genuine comments, which I've always really appreciated! Hopefully I can visit someday, and you'll still be blogging haha. I would love a tour and to meet you! :)

  4. Girl, I'm so glad to have been connected with you! I love reading your posts (and tweets!) about what's going on in your life and all the milestones you've shared, like getting married and moving and everything in between! The blogging world can be such an amazing place where you can connect with like minded individuals, as well as those who have completely different interests, yet we share one common love, to share a slice of ourselves with the world. I'd love to visit the Philippines someday and of course meet you in person! As for your outfit, you look absolutely beautiful, I adore that dress, the color looks so pretty on you and I love the fit and floral pattern. Thanks for sharing, beauty, and I hope you have a great weekend ahead!

  7. I actually gave up blogging for six years and just recently came back. I think blogging is in our blood. lol Once you start, you can never give it up forever.

I actually prefer personal blogs that discuss many different topics, as opposed to the blogs that only stick to one or two things. Nothing against niche blogs, I just think a variety of topics is more fun and really lets you get to know the blogger better.

I'm glad floral print has been coming back. It's definitely 90's, but I love 90's inspired fashion.

  10. Belated happy anniversary to your blog! Grabe 6 years and you were able to maintain it! Ako palipat-lipat kasi ng domain eh haha

I agree, through blogging you can improve a lot. I am not good in writing and even in reading comprehension but blogging really helps. I know I've improved even just a little hehe so there's no stopping. We learn from mistakes to be better in our passion :)
