FOTD: Things Get Better not by Chance but by Change

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” – Barack Obama

It was a blur to me at first and my decision to join and stand up for this cause was not that strong. I almost backed out because I feel like I don’t need this and that these people can do it by themselves. But when I prayed really hard, asked God to give me the wisdom in making decisions, really took the time to listen to Him, my eyes were opened to the real reason why He wants me to stay – it’s because I am part of the change that He has been planning. I needed to step out of my comfort zone and experience so many changes to be able to realize that I do not need to live the kind of life I used to have just to keep me satisfied – that true happiness comes from knowing that what you are doing is creating an impact and that you have, genuinely, touched lives and inspired people.

For this makeup look, I did my usual eye makeup using my Clinique eyeshadow duo and a new technique I have learned from Czjai Reyes-Ocampo (The Rebel Sweetheart) in one of her blog posts about gradient lip coloring.

PRODUCTS USED:

FACE: L’Oreal le teint True Match in Nude Amber | LA Colors Loose Powder in Medium | NYC Cheek Glow Powder Blush in West Side Wine

EYES: Ever Bilena Color Pencil in Brown | ELF Wet Gloss Lash & Brow Clear Mascara | Clinique Color Surge Eye Shadow Duo in Rosewine | SanSan Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Black | SanSan Kohl Eyeliner in Black | Maybelline The Falsies Volum Express Waterproof in Brownish Black

LIPS: Nanny Rose’s Queen Bee Lip Balm in Four Slices of Raspberry Cheesecake | Snoe Rouge Deluxe Lipstick in Precious Pout | NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Plush Red

HOW I DID IT:

I started with a pump of the L’Oreal le teint True Match in Nude Amber equally distributed on my face and another half pump of it to conceal the blemishes, which still surfaced after the initial application of the foundation. Then, I used the LA Colors Loose Powder in Medium to set the foundation,  put a little color on my cheeks using the NYC Cheek Glow Powder Blush in West Side Wine and then I’m off to the eye makeup!

For the eyes, I used the Ever Bilena Color Pencil in Brown to fill in my brows and the ELF Wet Gloss Lash & Brow Clear Mascara to further tame them. For the colors, I used the lighter in my Clinique Color Surge Eye Shadow Duo in Rosewine all over my lids and the darker shade for my crease and outer lid area. Afterwards, I used the SanSan Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Black to line my upper lid and then the SanSan Kohl Eyeliner in Black for half of my waterline. I, then, curled my lashes and applied the Maybelline The Falsies Volum Express Waterproof in Brownish Black on them.

Now off to the lip color! I used the Nanny Rose’s Queen Bee Lip Balm in Four Slices of Raspberry Cheesecake to moisturize and protect my lips and then applied the Snoe Rouge Deluxe Lipstick in Precious Pout all over my lips and the NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Plush Red on the inner part of my lips to create that gradient effect, which is the smooth clashing of the pink lipstick and red gloss.

I will never declare my personal journey to be all righteous because no one can fully attest that the road they are taking are that of complete righteousness; but what is clear to me is that I am doing this, not for myself, but for the people who needs help and to be able to create the change people have been longing for; and I am very much proud to be part of it. I believe that if people want change, we should lead the change. For change is not something we just long and wait for, it is a thing to be done and to be achieved.
