FOTD: Very Pinay

I am so itching to try out my new Careline palette which I got from Ever Bilena. So basically, that is the reason why I came up with this look. I love how this look was able to enhance my skin tone. It gave me a really beautiful golden brown look; perfect for the theme since I am using a local makeup brand, why not make this look something which will enhance our beautiful brown complexion right?

PRODUCTS USED:

FACE

- Jane Agua Ceuticals Sheer Tinted Moisturizer (Medium Warm Tones)
- Wish Pressed Powder (Beige)
- Careline Palette (Red Blush)

EYES

- Wet N Wild Color Icon Brow and Eyeliner
- Careline Palette (Blue and Light Blue Shade)
- L’Oreal Voluminous Naturale Mascara

LIPS:

- Watsons Moisturizing Lip Balm (Sweet Strawberry)
- Urban Decay Pocket Rocket Gloss (Timothy)

HOW I DID IT?

Using an N33 Fluid Foundation brush from Marionnaud, I applied the Jane tinted moisturizer all over my face. I love this product because aside from the fact that it is SPF 30, it is also organic. It really does take care of your skin. To set the tinted moisturizer, I applied the Wish Pressed Powder using an ELF total face brush.

For the eyes, I first used my Wet N Wild Color Icon Brow and Eyeliner to line my brows and lengthen them. Then, I used my new Marionnaud N37 Slanted Eyeline & Eyebrows Double Side Brush to apply the blue shade from my Careline palette thinly on the lids and on my lower lash line. I used the slanted part of the brush, btw. Then, applied the lighter shade of blue all over my eyes using a technique where I start inside going outside so that the inside will only have a little of the products and more on the outside; thus making it more noticeable without overly doing it. After that, I curled my lashes and used the L’Oreal Voluminous Naturale Mascara. I remembered Michelle Phan’s tip in choosing the best mascara fit for your lashes. If your lashes are like mine, short and thin, use a volumizing mascara instead because it has a thicker formula. Thin lashes are usually too weak to hold up a wet mascara formula so if you have thin lashes and you used a mascara with wet formula, you’ll end up smudging it all over the eyes after awhile.

For the lips, I applied first the Watsons Moisturizing Lip Balm and then the Urban Decay Pocket Rocket gloss. I am not a fan of lip glosses and I am so upfront about that. I hate the sticky feeling and how my hair always sticks on my lips when it’s too windy; but to complete this look, I disregarded that. The Urban Decay Pocket Rocket in Timothy smells like caramel plus it gave my lips a natural pink glossy glow.

For the finishing touches, I used the red blush from my Careline palette and set the whole look with the Wish pressed powder.

I love how this whole look really enhances my beautiful Filipina skin tone. It gave my face a golden brown glow and I know it would look great on majority of us, Filipinas, who have the same skin tone as mine. So if you loved this look, do tell me and if you tried it, show me a picture please!

A Day Full of Blessings

This truly has been a day full of blessings. Yeah, I am tired and all from the commute because it's already super hot outside; but when you've got free and new stuff, why complain? :D

First, I would like to thank Ms. Khristine Gabriel of Ever Bilena for these amazing goodies! She had this twitter contest and I was one of the lucky ones who won. I will be making a review of some of the stuffs here soon. Expect that.

Next, thanks so much to KMBI for the loot bag they gave me. They are the organizers of the mass wedding  held during the Typhoon Falcon. The bag shouts Philippine culture and inside are some magazines by their in house publication and a P500 worth of SM Gift Card.

Last, but definitely not the least, I want to thank my MOM for surprising me with my first makeup drawer. I do not have that much makeup yet but they're certainly increasing. So my mom bought me this brown drawer. Oh, when I saw it, I immediately organized and categorized my stuffs in there. In the top drawer, you can find my makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow, eyeliners, etc.). In the middle, you will see my tools (brushes, sponges, eyelash curler, etc.) and also my makeup palettes.  In the bottom drawer, you will spot my nail care stuffs (nail polishes and cleaning kit).

Oh and I was not satisfied! I still bought new stuffs; but only a few. I passed by Watsons at SM Valenzuela and I just can't help myself. Haha! I bought a Marionnaud N38 Slanted Eyeline and Eyebrows Double Side Brush (PHP 59.75) , Pond's Pure White Deep Cleansing Facial Foam (PHP 82.75) and a Caronia White Satin Nail Polish (PHP 30.00). The total is: PHP 172.50. I am so cheap right? Haha! But, these products are really good. Told you I can find good stuffs for cheaper costs.

Because of this super wonderful day, I might have a blog giveaway by mid July. I'm just collecting altogether the stuffs I would be giving away to all my fellow bloggers. I'm having a head ache right now and it must be because of the heat; but nevertheless, this day was truly blessed and I thank God and everyone else for it.

Till next blog post! ;)

NOTW (Nail Of The Week): Purple Tips

my nail of the week

From Etude House

From Wish (Available at Watsons)

Hi everyone! This will be the first post in this series I've created in my blog. I am not the best in applying nail polishes but I am practicing and doing my best. I know I'd improve soon. Anyway, I am starting to be addicted to nail polish and I'd be buying a lot soon; but as you all know me, I will help you guys in finding where we could buy cute colors at inexpensive prices.

For my nail of the week, I used the Etude House Carnation Pink Nail Polish and the Wish  Purple Nail Polish as my tip. I topped it with Caronia Fast- Dry Top Coat.

Till next nail ladies! ;)

KMBI Mass Wedding During Typhoon Falcon

"Manila, Philippines, June 25, 2011 –

Rains and floods did not even stop them!  563 couples in 66 branches nationwide exchanged vows and tied the knot despite of Falcon’s raging winds and rain as KMBI spearheaded its annual mass wedding.

“Malaki ang tulong nito.  Una, spiritually blessed ka ng God, blessed ka ng minister, blessed ka ng society...so malaki ang benefit nito,”(This really helps.  First, you are blessed by God, you are blessed by the minister, you are blessed by the society...so it’s really beneficial,”) says Mr. Joel Clavecilla, branch manager of Tandang Sora, Quezon City.

It was an emotional, fun- and Spiritual-filled event as these couples made a covenant before men and God in the sanctity of marriage.  Couples from Valenzuela branch even had to ride on a truck and pedicab, with the brides’ wedding gowns safely kept in a plastic bag, just to make it to the venue.

For some, it was a dream come true as some couples had concerns as to what kind of wedding and church they would attend because of difference in religious beliefs.

Ronalyn Marino, a program member from Tandang Sora and a Catholic, who got married to Radia Solaiman Disomimba, a Muslim, said that she’s grateful because KMBI has prepared an ecumenical wedding for couples like them aside from the financial support it gave for the wedding.  “Maraming problem – sa religion, sa family...ngayon, binigay sa amin ng KMBI ang pagsasama na tiyak para sa kanya...Para maging legal ang pamilya namin, maging legal yung pagsasama namin.” (There were problems – in religion and family...now KMBI gave us the kind of wedding that suits him...to legalize our family and our relationship.”)  Ronalyn and Radia already have a child.

The ecumenical mass wedding was joined by couples of different spiritual background and orientation who have been living together and most already have children.  This is one of the organization’s major activities that are being taken care of by the Transformation Department.  It aims to reach one of the components of its SEES (Spiritual, Economic, Environmental, Social) program, which is to draw people near to God and have a deeper relationship with Him."

True enough, KMBI does not only help individuals financially; but also helps in their spiritual growth regardless of what their religion is. The typhoon did not stop KMBI's mission to bind the couples who were present during their annual mass wedding event.

The rain and the flood may damage our physical goods but never our will and spiritual dedication. Thumbs up for KMBI!

Ragdoll Makeup Look

I was bored today so I decided to make a Ragdoll makeup look. It kind of reminds me of Sally in the Nightmare Before Christmas. My model for this look is my ever supportive younger sister, Christine.

PRODUCTS USED:

FACE

- EnCara BB Cream
- Wish Pressed Powder
- Kawaii Liquid Eyeliner (Yes, on the face)

EYES

- Love & Beauty Smokey Palette (Gray and Black Shade)
- Love & Beauty Brow and Eyeliner
- Maybelline Full N Soft Mascara

LIPS

Etude House Soft Touch Auto Lip Liner #05
- MAC Lipglass in Gitane

HOW I DID IT?

First, I used the Marionnaud Sponge to apply the EnCara BB Cream all over the face even on the brows and a bit on the lips so that you can control how you want everything to look. The EnCara BB Cream lightens up the face that is why it is perfect for this rag doll inspired look.

For the eyes, I lined first the brow using the Love & Beauty brow and eyeliner then used the Gray shade on my Love & Beauty Smokey Palette to apply all over the lids until the brow bone. Apply the black shade from the crease blending it upwards. Once the eyeshadow is done, pull and blend some of it until it reaches the part below your eyes where the dark eye circle is supposed to be. This will create a darker look on the eyes; thus making it more perfect for a scary rag doll look. For the lashes, I just used the Maybelline Full N Soft Mascara since my sister's lashes are already thick and long naturally.

For the lips, I applied the lip liner from Etude House to draw first the lips I wanted. We want the lips full yet small. So I shaped it from the middle of the lips and left the sides looking pale and dry. After lining your desired shape of the lips, I filled it with the MAC Lipglass in Gitane to give it a red and shimmery look.

Now, here is where the transformation begins; using the Kawaii Liquid Eyeliner, I lined the two side of the cheeks starting from the lips and made a stitched look on it. Same with the upper part of the face starting from the forehead, passing through the eyes until the lower part of the eyes where the apples of your cheeks are. Make a stitched look with it as well. It doesn't need to be straight since it would look super fake.

This is one of the experimental looks I have tried and I hope you all love it. This is perfect for Halloween or themed parties. Do share me your picture if you tried this look. I will be posting more of our pictorials soon and maybe more on my Deviant Art page.

Till next post! ;)

Ao No Exorcist

image from: http://www.myanimelist.com

The story is about Rin Okumura, originally the son of Satan, who is raised by a famous exorcist, Father Fujimoto. After an unforgettable incident, which caused Father Fujimoto’s death, Rin went to True Cross Academy with his twin brother Yukio to study exorcism. At True Cross Academy, Rin faced challenges not only with his studies but also with regard to his being the son of Satan. He also met new friends, who have the same goal... be an exorcist.

This anime is still on-going and was recommended by my sister. It may have a different story but it kind of remind me of Bleach. I enjoyed the story and I just can’t wait for the new episodes!

The Good Bits

It has a very unique story line. Imagine: A son of Satan wanting to be an exorcist – very ironic and unusual. Some of the characters can be very unpredictable in a very fun and entertaining way. The idea and the details they give in the story is just amazing. It makes me want to memorize the chants of the Arias, the other kinds of exorcists and the terminologies they used to define earth and hell and other places.

The Bad Bits

The storyline and concept may be unique but you can’t help but notice how predictable an episode would be after the first two. I guess it still kind of follows the trend of having one monster / demon (in this case) to defeat in each episode and little bits of info which explains why stuffs happen in the story. Oh, and I kind of do not like Yukio, physically. His character is supposed to be like this bishounen type of character since a lot of the girls in the show are after him; but he isn’t very appealing to me unlike the other bishounen from other Anime shows. Let me quote this from Rin: “Four-eyed mole face!

Over-All

I will definitely be anticipating for Ao No Exorcists’ next episodes. It made me laugh so much and the storyline itself is worth waiting for. I would be giving this anime a rating of 9/10. Watch it and tell me what you think.

Rin's first encounter with Satan

Yukio is their Anti-Demon Pharmacology teacher

FOTD: Despite Being Sick

Yes, I am down with a fever today and no, it didn't stop me from wanting to look all glammed up. I believe that a bad weather and a fever shouldn't be enough reason to stop us from looking good. So even if I'm sick and all, I'm giving you all this rainy day look I have made which is also a natural look everyone can wear even if they're not going out.

PRODUCTS USED:

FACE:

- EnCara BB Cream
- Wish Pressed Powder (Beige)
- Nichido Powder Blush (Cool Rum)

EYES:

- Wet N Wild Color Icon Brow and Eyeliner
- Love & Beauty Smokey Palette (Light Gray, Gray and Lightest Brown Shade)
- Maybelline Full N Soft Mascara

LIPS:

- Watsons Soothing Lip Balm (Raspberry)
- Etude House Soft Touch Auto Lip Liner #05
- MAC Satin Lipstick (Mocha)

HOW I DID IT?

Using my fingers this time, I applied the EnCara BB Cream all over my face. To set the BB Cream, I, then applied the Wish Pressed Powder using my ELF Total Face Brush.

For the eyes, I applied the Wet N Wild Color Icon Brow and Eyeliner on my brows, the light gray shade from the Love & Beauty Palette on my lids, the gray shade on the crease area and the lightest brown shade to highlight my brows. It is the closest to the white shade so I tried using this one instead of the usual white shade I use to highlight my brows. You can use a very light brow shade as long as it is closer to white than it is to brown. After that, I curled my lashes and  applied the Maybelline Full N Soft Mascara on my upper lashes.

For the lips, I first applied the Etude House Lip liner around the shape of my lips, then the Watsons Soothing Lip Balm and after that, the MAC Satin Lipstick in Mocha.

For the finishing touches, I applied the Nichido Powder Blush in Cool Rum on my cheekbone blending it slantly upwards and then I applied again the Wish Pressed Powder to set the whole look together.

So, that is how I made the look and I hope you all love it. Despite of the bad weather, I still hope you're all doing well. Don't forget to apply mosquito repellents and I hope none of you ladies get sick.

Till next blog post! ;)

FOTD: Going Out (Supposedly)

I was supposed to wear this look on my visit at the Peak Performance Studio for Bellyfest stuff; but I wasn't able to go there because of the rain and all. Anyway, I decided to just post this look here hoping you will love this look as well. Believe it or not, I used 2 colors on my eyes; but they are mineral eyeshadows, so they are not very pigmented. Despite that fact, I still love this look so I hope you feel the same.

PRODUCTS USED:

FACE:

- Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup (Honey Beige)
- Wish Pressed Powder (Beige)
- Clinique Pressed Powder Bronzer (True Bronze)
- Nichido Powder Blush (Cool Rum)

EYES:

- Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color Quad (Lemon Grass | Denim Frost | Amber Blaze)
- Lancome High Definition Mascara
- Kawaii Liquid Eyeliner
- Wet N Wild Color Icon Brow and Eyeliner

LIPS:

- Watsons Moisturizing Lip Balm
- NYX Round Lipstick (Fig)

HOW I DID IT?

First, I applied the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup (Honey Beige) using my Marionnaud N33 Fluid Foundation Brush. To set the foundation, I applied the Wish Pressed Powder (Beige) using my ELF Total Face Brush.

For the eyes, I used the Wet N Wild Color Icon Brow and Eyeliner to draw on my brows and lengthen them a bit. After that, I applied the Amber Blaze shade from Mary Kay to my lids, the denim frost on the crease area and the lemon grass shade on my brow bone. I, then, used the Wet N Wild Color Icon Brow and Eyeliner again for my waterline and applying it only half way. For my lashes, I used the Lancome High Definition Mascara.

On my lips I used a Watsons Moisturizing Lip Balm in Strawberry and then applied the NYX Round lipstick in Fig.

For contouring the nose I used Clinique Pressed Powder Bronzer (True Bronze) to create a line on each side of my nose starting from my brow and ending on the side of my nostrils. I blended them a bit so as to look natural and then I applied the white shade of the Love & Beauty Smokey Palette to accentuate and draw attention to the slimmer part of my nose.

For the last touches, I applied the Nichido Powder Blush (Cool Rum) on my cheekbone blending it slantly upwards and then I applied again the Wish Pressed Powder to set the whole look together.

So that's how I came up with this look. This look is very fresh but the lips somehow managed to catch attention because how it transformed my lips to being small to being full and thick. I'd be posting a new look tomorrow when I finally get to go to the Peak Performance Dance Studio. If you tried out this look, don't hesitate to inform and show me. You can use other brands of makeup by the way as long as the shade is just the same. So don't be afraid to try and experiment with colors. You might be able to come up with really great looks.

So, till next look ladies. ;)

Finding Mr. Destiny

Finding Mr. Destiny is a story about a girl named Seo Jin-Woo who went to India and met her first true love who goes by the name Kim Jong-Ok. After 10 years, she still wasn’t able to get the man out of his mind. With the persuasion of his father, he then turns to: “Finding Your First True Love Company” – A real company dedicated to finding your first love owned by Han Gi-Joon, an ex-travel agent.

Now you know why he got fired from being a travel agent :P

Han Gi-Joon did everything and took Seo Jin-Woo everywhere to help her find Kim Jong-Ok; but the insane journey made them fall for each other instead.

Rejecting the proposal of his pilot bf. Errgh.. XD

This movie has a one-of-a-kind plot and who would have ever thought that a company engaged in finding your first true love would be a good idea after all? I just saw this movie while I was browsing for a good movie to watch and this came out. I got curious and watched it but never knowing what this is about. I was completely clueless about the movie so it was a fun experience not knowing what the movie you are watching is all about.

The Good Bits

It was daddy's idea to find her first love! :D

Leave it to the Koreans to create a fresh romantic movie idea. I have always loved Korean chick flicks and they never fail to make me fall in love with the movie. The movie has some unexpected twists and there are some things in the movie which you will be able to predict at the beginning; but then it really isn’t what it looks like. The characters are very convincing and very normal looking. By normal looking I mean that the movie didn’t make the characters look like they are cut outs from a magazine. They look like ordinary people which made the movie more appealing to the masses. Oh and its ending is not how I imagined it to be. Well, won’t tell if it’s a tragedy or a happy ending; but it’s just not the way I expected it to be.

The Bad Bits

The movie is quite confusing when they are showing images from Jin-Woo’s India trip. Kim Jong-Ok is a confusing character and they should not have just shown the face if that’s what will happen in the end. I don’t want to spill some spoilers, so you’ll know what I mean after you have watched it. If you have already watched it and you still don’t get what I have said; ask me and I’ll pm you personally. I don’t want to spill some spoilers okay?

Over-All

Ayiieee ;)

The movie is more of a funny one than a romantic one; but it never failed to give me that “kilig” factor still and I still enjoyed it. I learned from the movie that: “Your first love doesn’t have to be the first person.” I’d be giving it a rating of 9/10.

Kawaii Liquid Eyeliner

You know how I am always in the look for affordable cosmetics; but also those of good quality. Last time I won in an online auction which made me get a Liquid Eyeliner, a Lip Balm and false lashes. This will be my review to the Kawaii Liquid Eyeliner I bought.

The Good Bits

Felt Tip Applicator
First of all, this liquid eyeliner uses a felt tip applicator which makes it easier to use. I have tried using a liquid eyeliner with a brush applicator but I just cannot control the application well so I prefer felt tip applicators. The Kawaii Liquid eyeliner is also very cheap. I don’t know the exact price for this because I got it in a whole package but I know it’s not expensive so I would recommend this to anyone who is in a tight budget but still wants good quality product. It doesn’t smudge quickly, it dries fast and I’ve used this for one whole day, plus the sweats, but it didn’t wear off; but need not to worry about taking it off because I easily got it off of my eyes using just facial wash and water. Oh and isn’t it truly cute? The packaging, I mean.

The Bad Bits

Because of the fact that it is indeed cheap, I cannot recommend this product for people who have sensitive skin. This may or may not irritate your skin so I suggest that before you try using a specific product, do consult your dermatologist about it. Remember, prevention is better than cure.

Over-All

On my eyes

With Flash

Without Flash

This product is good and will do its purpose as a liquid eyeliner well. It is long-wearing and not expensive. I will recommend this to anyone who is in a tight budget but doesn’t want to sacrifice the quality of the product. However, I don’t know if this will be good for people with sensitive skin so I would be giving this product a rating of 8/10. Oh, you can buy this product through a lot of online beauty shops in Facebook and Multiply; so no need to worry about not finding one.
